Aquaculture licences are required for anyone engaged in the breeding or husbandry of fish in Ontario as required by the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act , 1997. In Ontario, the aquaculture industry is classified as land or cage (i.e. open water) based operations. Issuance and risk assessment policies for aquaculture are posted online: Aquaculture and fish stocking licences. https://www.ontario.ca/page/aquaculture-and-fish-stocking-licences No applications for cage based aquaculture in the source protection area have been received. If an application is received, it would be subject to the class environmental assessment process, which includes public consultation. If the the Source Protection Authority would like to discuss our response further, please contact Jason Belleghem, Sr. Program Advisor - Aggregates at (705) 772-9154 or jason.belleghem@ontario.ca.

King IPZ-1, or Sydenham IPZ-1, IPZ-2 or IPZ-3a, the Ministry of Natural Resources should ensure that appropriate risk management measures are included in the facility design to protect these drinking water sources from the risk associated with the management of agricultural source material.
