To be reviewed through the new Official Plan review and update. The Official Plan update will include a review of options to implement Source Water Protection policy direction. The We Make Milton - New Official Plan Project - was launched in summer 2019. It is anticipated that the process will be complete in 2024/25. The work plan includes implementation of SPPs. As of 2023, the Town has are preparing policy review papers, which consider where new growth will occur - and where not to grow. The Town has prepared a policy review discussion paper and identified a set of policy requirements related to the SPPs that need to be implemented. The Region has also released a policy directions report. The Town will implement directions as required.

Policy Text:
To achieve the intent of the Clean Water Act, 2006, that drinking water threats identified in the vicinity of a transport pathway cease to be or do not become a significant threat, and that a pathway ceases to endanger the source water of a municipal water supply, the following policies apply:
f. The municipalities are requested to prohibit the construction of new wells and septic systems within the urban area where municipal water and wastewater services are available.
