Threats verification is ongoing for potential existing application of agricultural source material to land and application, handling and storage of non-agricultural source material threats. A process is in place to address future Prohibitions for application and storage of agricultural source material, application, handling and storage of non-agricultural source material, handling and storage of pesticides, and use of land as livestock grazing or pasturing land, an outdoor confinement area or a farm animal yard when applications are made under the Planning Act. A monitoring process to address future Prohibitions for these threats is in progress.
Policy Text:
To ensure the following significant drinking water threats:
The existing and future application of agricultural source material
The future storage of agricultural source material
The existing and future application and handling and storage of non-agricultural source material
The future handling and storage of pesticide
The future use of land as livestock grazing or pasturing land, an outdoor confinement area or a farm animal yard
within a WHPA-A, ceases to be or never become significant drinking water threats, these activities shall be designated for the purpose of Section 57 of the Clean Water Act, 2006 and shall be prohibited.
Monitoring Text:
BC-CW-1.11: The Risk Management Official shall provide a report to the Source Protection Authority, by February 1st of each year, summarizing the actions taken by the Risk Management Official to implement the Source Protection Plan policies, in accordance with the Clean Water Act, 2006 and associated regulations.
