The Lynden WHPA is not crossed by any major roads. We tried to identify local transportation businesses but we could not find any information related to the area they operate in. furthermore the transportation businesses operate through multiple SPAs and asking them to include spill prevention plans based on local WHPAs does not seem efficient. Nevertheless we added content onto the municipal source protection page that talks to this policy. Another aspect is that any time we are aware of major construction work in the high vulnerability area, we are asking for a spill prevention plan for their transport trucks/ temporary generators. Furthermore we are revisiting this policy in collaboration with the SPA to identify the most appropriate implementing body.

Policy Text:

The City of Hamilton is requested to implement an education and outreach program to encourage all transportation businesses that ship goods through wellhead protection areas to prepare spill prevention plans and spill contingency plans, to review these plans annually, and to update them, as required.
