The Town of Milton is currently updating the Official Plan under s.26 of the Planning Act. Through the review and update process appropriate policies will be inserted into the Official Plan. The review has commenced and is expected to be completed in 2024.
Policy Text:
The Region of Halton and the Town of Milton shall amend their Official Plans to prohibit future salt storage and handling facilities with a capacity greater than 5,000 tonnes of road salt where this activity would be a significant drinking water threat, to ensure these activities never become significant drinking water threats.
Monitoring Text:
HR-CW-1.9: Where the Halton Region and Town of Milton are required to amend their Official Plan and/or Zoning By-laws as a result of policies in this plan, they shall provide notice to the Source Protection Authority within 30 days of the amendment(s) coming into effect.
