NOTE: OMAFRA does not issue or review Nutrient Management Plans so answer will always be not applicable. However, guidance has been developed for Risk Management Officials, farmers and certified individuals that prepare Nutrient Management Plans to use to help determine if a prescribed instrument conforms to the significant drinking water threat policies. Guidance documents are available on nutrientmanagement.ca under the Resources section. Some training was also delivered by OMAFRA to certified preparers on requirements and responsibilities of incorporating source water protection into prescribed instruments (Nutrient Management Plans included).

Policy Text:
To ensure any existing and future application of Agricultural Source Material (ASM) to land on farms phased-in under the Nutrient Management Act where such an activity is or would be a significant drinking water threat, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs shall review or prepare Nutrient Management Plans and/or Strategies to ensure that terms and conditions are incorporated that, when implemented, the activity ceases to be and/or never becomes a significant drinking water threat.
Monitoring Text:
(CB-CW-1.9): Where the Source Protection Plan policies may result in amendments to Prescribed Instruments or the issuance of a new Prescribed Instrument, the applicable ministry shall provide a summary of any actions taken. The applicable ministry shall provide a written report summarizing this information to the Source Protection Authority by February 1st of each year.
