A process is in place to address future Prohibitions for handling and storage of DNAPLs within a WHPA-A or WHPA-B with vulnerability scores of 10 when applications are made under the Planning Act. A monitoring process to address future Prohibitions for handling and storage of DNAPLs that do not require an application under the Planning Act is in progress.

Policy Text:

To ensure any future handling and storage of a dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) for industrial, commercial institutional and agricultural purposes never becomes a significant drinking water threat, where this activity would be a significant drinking water threat within WHPA- A or B with a vulnerability score equal to ten (10), this activity shall be designated for the purpose of Section 57 of the Clean Water Act, 2006 and shall be prohibited.

Monitoring Text:

BC-CW-1.11: The Risk Management Official shall provide a report to the Source Protection Authority, by February 1st of each year, summarizing the actions taken by the Risk Management Official to implement the Source Protection Plan policies, in accordance with the Clean Water Act, 2006 and associated regulations.
