According to the County OP Policy, the provision of sewage and water services is the responsibility of the local municipalities. The County will promote efficient and environmentally responsible development which is supportable on the basis of appropriate sewage and water services consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement.

Policy Text:

To ensure new small on-site sewage systems never become a significant drinking water threat, where such an activity would be a significant drinking water threat, the Township and the County of Dufferin, where applicable, shall permit new development, only where the lot sizes for any proposed development that would include a small on-site sewage system is based on the most current version of the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks’ guidelines for individual on-site servicing. Lots of record that exist on the effective date of the source protection plan are exempted.

DC-M-CW-1.9: Where the Township and County of Dufferin is required to amend their Official Plan and/or Zoning By-law and provide proof of compliance to the Source
Protection Authority, they shall do so within 30 days of final approval of the amendment(s) or, where the matter has been appealed to the Ontario Municipal
