2 Nutrient Management Strategies were submitted in the Grand River Source Protection Area in significant drinking water threat areas in 2023. One had an insignificant amount of overlap with WHPA A (property boundaries barely touching) so no action taken. One had conditions placed on approval, where the conditions were: no establishment of an ASM storage, OCA/yard without Director notification and approval Risk Management Official copied on approval.

Policy Text:

Where the existing and potential future use of land as an outdoor confinement area or farm-animal yard is, or would be, a significant drinking water threat and is managed by nutrient management strategies prepared under the Nutrient Management Act, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs shall ensure that all existing and future nutrient management strategies incorporate measures to protect drinking water sources that, when implemented, ensure that the activity ceases to be or never becomes a significant drinking water threat.

Monitoring Text:

(CH-CW-1.7) Where the Source Protection Plan policies require a provincial ministry to amend a Prescribed Instrument or issue a new Prescribed Instrument, the applicable Ministry shall provide a summary of any actions taken and/or conditions imposed. The applicable ministry shall provide a written report summarizing this information to the Source Protection Authority by February 1st of each year.
