Norfolk County’s ISMP is budgeted to be completed in 2025 for the entire County. Water models for each town are currently being updated and there is the Inter Urban Water Supply program that is being initiated. This will see the interconnection of the drinking water systems with the source water coming from the Nanticoke Water Treatment Plant in Haldimand County. This will be phased in over ten to twenty years, still in preliminary stages.
Policy Text:
To ensure that any existing and future consumptive water taking within the WHPAQ1 with a significant risk level ceases to be or never becomes a significant
drinking water threat, Norfolk County shall update their Integrated Sustainable
Master Plan using the findings from the Long Point Region Tier 3 Water Budget
and Local Area Risk Assessment to ensure water allocation does not exceed 80%
of the water supply system's firm capacity.
Monitoring Text:
NC-CW-1.9: The County shall provide a report to the Source Protection Authority, by February
1st of each year, summarizing the actions taken to implement the Source
Protection Plan Policies, where specifically required by the policies.
