The ministry has reviewed and considered the policy. Source Protection Authorities (SPAs) have the ability through the Drinking Water Source Protection Transfer Payment Agreement to request funding for work that supports updates to assessment reports, technical studies, and source protection plans. All funding requests must be supported by rationale and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.?
Policy Text:
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change should consider the need for ongoing maintenance and funding of the Tier 3 Water Budget models. Ongoing
maintenance includes, but is not limited to;
1. Supporting environmental monitoring to address data gaps; and
2. Providing information to improve modelling inputs.
Monitoring policies MP-02 and MP-32 apply.
Monitoring Text:
MP-02: The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change should, by February 15 each year, provide to the local Source Protection Authority a summary report for the preceding calendar year that gives information on the financial support provided to Municipalities and Conservation Authorities for the implementation of Source Protection Plan policies.
MP-32: The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change should, by February 15 of each year, provide to the local Source Protection Authority with a summary report of any relevant activities or funding related to the ongoing maintenance of Tier 3 Water Budget models.
