Policy Text:

To assist the municipality with identifying areas where the handling and storage of road salt are prohibited (Policy 13-1-E & F), all land uses in the applicable areas are designated for the purpose of Section 59 (restricted land use) of the Clean Water Act, 2006.

Applicable Areas: 

a) Where the quantity of road salt is greater than 5,000 tonnes:
- WHPA A and B (vulnerability score of 10) - Deloro, Madoc, Peats Point, Point Anne and Tweed; and
- IPZ 1 and 2 (vulnerability score of 9) - Ameliasburgh (IPZ 2), Belleville (IPZ 1), Deseronto (IPZ 1), Napanee (IPZ 1), Picton (IPZ 2) and Point Anne (IPZ  1).

b) Where the quantity of road salt is greater than 500 tonnes:
- IPZ 1 (vulnerability score of 10) -  Ameliasburgh, Picton and Point Anne.

Effective Date: The policy will be implemented when the Plan, or any plan amendment, as applicable, takes effect.  Official Plans must be updated no later than the date of their next five year review required under Section 26 of the Planning Act and zoning by-laws must be updated within three years of the Official Plan amendments to bring them into conformity with the Official Plan. 

Monitoring Text:

The municipality shall submit an annual report to the Quinte Source Protection Authority by February 1st summarizing the actions it has taken to implement the policy.
