The City of Brantford Source Protection Plan underwent a Section 34 amendment in 2025 (approved July 2025). Policies were updated and circumstances under the 2021 Technical Rules are now used for the City of Brantford's IPZ (not yet the Ohsweken IPZ as this requires the Section 36 update planned in the future). Threat verification visits and re-assessment of properties in 2025 were initiated to identify properties where existing storage of snow is a significant drinking water threat. This will continue in 2026. In 2025 1 property had snow storage identified as a Significant Drinking Water threat. A Risk Management Plan was negotiated and signed to manage this threat. Several properties that had snow storage identified as Significant Drinking Water threats through threat verification visit chose to move snow storage out of the Intake Protection Zone, thus eliminating the drinking water threats.

Policy Text:

To ensure the existing storage of snow where such an activity is a significant drinking water threat, ceases to be a significant drinking water threat, the activity is designated for the purpose of Section 58 of the Clean Water Act, 2006 and a Risk Management Plan shall be required.

Monitoring Text:

CB-CW-1.8: The Risk Management Official shall provide a report to the Source Protection Authority, by February 1st of each year, summarizing the actions taken by the Risk Management Official to implement the Source Protection Plan policies, in accordance with the Clean Water Act, 2006 and associated regulations.
