Policy Text:

To ensure that any handling and storage of road salt potentially exposed to precipitation or runoff, in quantities greater than 100 kilograms, ceases to be, or never becomes, a significant drinking water threat, where this activity is, or would be, a significant drinking water threat, this activity shall be designated for the purpose of Section 58 of the Clean Water Act, 2006 and a Risk Management Plan shall be required, where any of the following apply:

a. Existing storage of road salt in a WHPA-A outside of a Sodium WHPA-ICA or Chloride WHPA-ICA
b. Existing or Future storage of road salt in a Sodium WHPA-ICA or Chloride WHPA-ICA outside of a WHPA-A
c. Existing or Future storage of road salt in a WHPA-B outside of a Sodium WHPA-ICA or Chloride WHPA-ICA
