To ensure that any Existing or Future wastewater treatment facilities and associated parts cease to be, or never become significant drinking water threats, where these activities are, or would be, significant drinking water threats, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks shall prepare or review and, where necessary, amend Environmental Compliance Approvals to incorporate appropriate terms and conditions.
The conditions may include strict criteria for effluent quality, appropriate sizing to reduce bypasses, in addition to inspections and proactive maintenance of the works to prevent leaks.
