The Essex Region's RMO conduct windshield surveys for the Essex Region's fuel storage inventory. The RMO uses available GIS mobile mapping tools in the field to record threat specific info and pin point fuel storage locations (confirmed SDWTs - fuel storage tanks) accurately. The inventory includes the (1) AR fuel threats for existing sites that were confirmed to be a SDWT, (2) fuel storage identified as a SDWT/confirmed by RMO after the SPP took effect, and (3) the known future installation of fuel in vulnerable areas (EBA's and IPZs) identified through s.59.

Policy Text:

The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) will initiate the development of an inventory of fuel storage sites in order to identify significant threats, when the Source Protection Plan takes effect. ERCA will also encourage municipalities to update their Emergency Plans to include a response to fuel spills. The inventory of sites and updating of emergency plans will be targeted for completion by the end of 2015, and will continue to be updated as needed based on review at that time.

The above applies to the existing and future significant threat of the handling and storage of fuel in the vulnerable areas:
All EBAs within IPZs in the Essex Region Source Protection Area

SLWA123-handlestorefuel-2 (SpecActMonitoring Policy): The Essex Region Conservation Authority will prepare and submit a report to the Source Protection Authority which summarizes the actions taken to comply with policy SLWA123-handlestorefuel-7(Specify Action).

The date of compliance is by February 1 of each year.
