Policy Text:

The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) will apply for funding assistance from the Ministry of the Environment, when the Source Protection Plan takes effect, in order to undertake a stewardship and incentive program, funded by the Province, to encourage the use of risk mitigation practices and assist with the implementation costs of these practices for moderate and low threats to drinking water sources.

Implementation will be conditional on availability of funding.

The above applies to the existing and future, moderate and low, various threats (listed below) in all IPZs, HVAs and SGRAs and rural areas with
private wells in the Essex Region Source Protection Area:
The handling and storage of road salt
The storage of snow
The handling and storage of fuel
Waste disposal sites
The establishment, operation or maintenance of a system that collects,
stores, transmits, treats or disposes of sewage
The handling and storage of a dense non-aqueous phase liquid
The handling and storage of an organic solvent
The application of pesticide to land
The handling and storage of pesticide
The application of commercial fertilizer to land
The handling and storage of commercial fertilizer
The application of agricultural source material to land
The storage of agricultural source material
The management of agricultural source material
The application of non-agricultural source material to land
The handling and storage of non-agricultural source material.

Monitoring Text:

All IPZs, HVAs, SGRAs, Wells -2 (Monitoring Policy): The Essex Region Conservation Authority will prepare and submit a report to the Source Protection Authority which the actions taken to comply with policy all IPZs, HVAs, SGRAs, Wells-1.

The above applies to the existing and future, moderate and low, various threats in the vulnerable areas:
All IPZs, HVAs and SGRAs and rural areas with private wells in the Essex Region Source Protection Area.

The date of compliance is by February 1 of each year.
