For the previous calendar year the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks reported to the Source Protection Authority the following actions: Actions related to Conditions sites in the City of Barrie (City): • For 114 John St, and properties on Collier St and Clapperton St, the owners of the sites continue to provide annual updates/reports on the environmental conditions/remedial efforts to the ministry for review. • For the Wood Street area, the owner of a known source site and the City continue to provide annual updates/reports on the environmental conditions to the ministry for review. • For other sites in Barrie, the ministry continues to work with the City in trying to address source water protection issues related to contaminated sites and brownfield development, in particular related to risk assessments being completed under the ministry's Brownfields Program. Actions related to Conditions sites in the Town of Penetanguishene: • For the Midland Penetanguishene Tiny (MPT) Closed Waste Disposal Site which is owned by the County of Simcoe (County), the ministry has not issued any compliance orders for this site, as the County is voluntarily monitoring the site and voluntarily addressing any groundwater issues. • For The Robert Street property: The Robert Street Municipal water supply well was taken off-line due to trichloroethylene impacts over 10 years ago. Trichloroethylene concentrations have decreased significantly since the water supply well was taken off-line, however they remain higher than the Ontario Drinking Water Standard of 5 ug/L for trichloroethylene. The municipality continues to monitor the situation and is in the process of looking at the potential to bring them back on-line with treatment as a redundancy (secondary water supply) . The ground water source of the impacts to the Robert Street Municipal well is unknown.
